My company give only between 4-6% for promotion from engineer to senior engineer, from senior engineer to assistant principal engineer...and there of....
4-6% at their pay grade is addition of abt ~130-180 only...
alot of turnover.
Even one of my friend, consider a high flyer, estimate only getting abt $4700 basic after 6 years exp(with 3 promotion included)....very low indeed his starting pay is 2.9k in 2007 jul

I am surprised. The median monthly salary in Singapore is around $2600. If a salary of $4700 is considered very low, then I will believe Singapore has come a long way and there wouldn't be many couples in Singapore with income within HDB's ceiling.
Maybe your friend would have felt much better if he had known the salary of his co-workers holding the same appointment. (Being a high flyer, definitely getting more than his peers)
Perhaps he/she is looking for opportunities to move up to next level, rather than move due to the current salary.

Based on what you've said, the increment for promotion is double the 4-6% mentioned. do the calculations again..

you got to consider
Annual increment = 3.5-4%
Promotion increment = 4-6%
got one year in 2009 got pay freeze
got 2 years got wage adjustment of +200 each
and to sum it up will get 4.7k after 6 yr exp

ignored the bonus etc,
can anyone provide the annual increment & promotion increment info in keppel fels, assuming I am average performer.
annual increment = how many %
promotion increment = how many %
Let say I join keppel fels since fresh grad starting pay = 2700
How much will my basic salary after 3 years with 1 promotion included?

i know my fren in keppel energy mgmt trainee $2800 BUT bonus average ~8-9 mths.
$2800x20mths=$56000 !
compare it to exxonmobil (fixed 15mths package, no variable bonus)
fresh grad i last heard is ~$3600
$3600x15=$54000
some of my exxon frens would complain their bonus esp on good years cos other coys give high bonus while theirs is fixed.

i know that after 2 years in exxon, he will get ~$4900
$4900x15 = $73500

Some possible scenarios:
1. He lied to me
2. He was paid below the mkt rate for exxon employees
3. Your info is inaccurate

according to exxon
it's engineer get pay increment of 7-8% every 6 months for the 1st 2 years, mean 4 increment in 2 years.
>>3600x1.08^4 = 4897 or approx~4900
