3) Almost everyone in mnc has a degree, it is nothing special unless you graduated from Harvard
This is spot on

Have fun! If you can find one MNC that does that, good (Like the previous post, maybe those that offer graduate programs). If you can't, then you know the realities of the working life. I'm also a Singaporean, First Class Honours, but not in the popular Banking/Finance, Consultant or Tech. Started from the bottom, but rise up within a few years ($100k/year Manager in a global MNC by 29 years old, and I know of friends who are earning more than that too, but we all started as Executive/Specialist/Analyst roles first).

Put it simply, if you want to be in a managerial position as a Fresh Grad, who are you going to manage? This isn't like a single chocolate bar Occifer in Army where enciks must salute you yah. And you will face challenges with other Singaporeans who have more relevant working experience than you (Older too) who will be in a much more favourable position than a Fresh Grad who knows nothing than doing menial work as an Intern.

Top Tip: Don't expect too much as a Fresh Grad. But as a Sinkie, if you managed to get into top MNCs, you put your effort in and work your way up, especially if you claim to be smart and capable, the rewards/promotions will come into place in just a few years.

MNC is overrated. You can sometimes earn and learn a lot more at startup. But obviously the founder should have good track record preferably startup that is backed by Y combinator.

Curious, what industry and function are you in? Do you have direct reports?

Local Uni degree grad FCH or 2nd upper just means you can become manager in MNC within the next 5 years assuming nothing goes wrong. There is no fresh grad in Singapore who starts off as a MNC manager even if he comes from Harvard.

Do ppl get direct reports to work with in 5 years? What’s the package like?

I ask because I’m in top mnc and my title says manager, but I am the most junior individual contributor. My base is low 5 digit so can’t complain

Don't really have to mention one specific industry. FMCG, Hospitality, Manufacturing, Oil&Gas, etc also have managers that have direct reports. And yes I personally do have 4 direct reports, ranging from Fresh Grad to AM with 4 years working experience.

Agree with this. Another food for thought also, but depending on industry to industry. Since alot of fresh grads are moving to the hot industries like banking/IT/Tech/Consultancies, there is lack of talents in other places. And some of them starts off with an average or below average salary (approx. $3k) which turns off people like some entitled graduating students in this thread. But if you see long term, when one industry could potentially reach saturation point of too many fresh grad talents as the starting pay is good (survival of the fittest to see who gets promoted in the long run, and even harder to get managerial roles unless you are better than the rest) while other industries have lost too many and are trying to retain talents, you can analyse to see which ones will have the faster promotion and over a 10 year period, can compare who has a better progression and/or a more stable work life balance for the pay you are getting.

Depends on when you join. If you just started early with the founder and have company shares, it is worth. If the company has been established for a few years already, they will low ball you and won't even give and company shares, completely not worth it. I Kena from two different startups and offering a 20% and 10% paycut respectively, telling me I will learn more in the long run and whatnot (similar to the previous post about the difference between GLCs, MNCs and Startups). But the toxic HR culture in Singapore is that firms will ask for last drawn salary, and if kena this shitty low pay, then jumping over to another company with a significant pay bump is challenging.
