won't comment on the other parts but the salary is true, so is the technical capability part.
typically 12month + aws (13th mon) + 3 months bonus (for average performer)
better than average performer get around 4 months bonus and the best performer can get up to 6 months.
most IDA staff, even those who claim to be tech savvy, actually can't survive a real technical job outside. maybe they can when they first come, but the environment doesn't really encourage or facilitate improvements on technical capability. eventually one either accept the "project manager" career, or go for management, or strategy. there's no real technical job within IDA, all real techy part done through throwing tender, or call challenge and grant.

Typically they get 16 months salary a year, while those guys inside sucks big time technically. Meanwhile they can console themselves that they are "planners", project managers, who are the kind that PAP government think they deserve high salary.
The outside contractors and good engineers do the real work.
PAP jobs are hopeless unless you know how to suck coc.

IDA is actually rebuilding its technical capability, so they're not entirely unaware of the problem. But a problem with that is IDA after all is a stat board, a regulator and promoter of ICT sector, not a tech company. so there's some fundamental issue as of if IDA really build up a strong tech team, will it be unfair competition with industry? many years ago IDA or its predecessor actually have in-house engineering/technical capability, but eventually disappeared because it wants to focus on it core function as a regulator and policy maker. Now seems to repeat itself in cycle trying to develop in-house tech capability again.

Offered 1 yr contract
Hi. Looking at all posts seems like GovTech (former IDA) is really a sucky place to be in!?
Anyone who is in now can justify this? Im offered to go into a small agency site. Not sure how will the culture be like and hope that the progression is not as rigid as it sounds but i was about to give it a shot. Problem is it is a 1yr contract and coming from perm position this is not favourable. And i am given a G10 with 7 yrs of exp. Any advice ?
