Working for Jap

How is it like?

Benefits, increment, career progression, working environment (not allowed to use Internet?)

I worked in a Jap bank, benefits were not bad 24 days of leave, unlimited dental, normal medical etc, increments were very bad but bonuses were quite good (3-4 months even for operations staff).

Career progression not that fantastic unless you are in front office. Working environment quite strict cannot be late, lunch cannot go too long, cannot send personal emails using office mail (office mail is monitored by your boss-he can just read all the mails you send). I could use the internet tho but some websites block etc but that's normal. No need to work very late, usually left at 6+.. They expect us to be punctual so they dun really complain if you dun stay late either.

I worked in a Japan MNC IT company before.
Everything is quite bad.

Benefits - Minimum as req by MOM (10days leave, +1 after every year worked)
Increment - Depends on appraisal but is still very low, i was graded A + Merit for a year & all i got was $77 increment.
Career Progression - Very slow, They see loyalty so every few years you will get promoted.

That depends on which industry u r in.

Generally speaking, benefits and increment are just average and u will have verryyyy slow career progression.

I heard there is OT pay even for executive level staff.. not sure if its true?

The OT pay is also depending on the company that u r working with. My company doesn't even pay for OT but instead "replacement off" for the extra hour that you work.
