People keep saying B4 is good because steady progression reach M very good pay bla bla bla.

The question is, why out of 10 people only 1 stay until M? And even M starts leaving in droves.

Obviously there are intangible factors resulting in only a few ppl surviving until M and beyond.

One of which is the low starting and junior years' pay, compared to other salaries, as well as the long and unreasonable hours for that low pay. These factors can't be disingenuously ignored.

Its like asking a woman to marry an abusive bum boyfriend and tell her to 'suck it up' for the first 8 years of their marriage bcos he will eventually become a good and successful husband. Yeah right... There are better options out there that will not leave emotional scars lol

I guess times have changed and younger people have more options.

During my time, we readily accepted without complain that it sounds normal and fair that you must “suffer” a bit first when starting our career then next time life becomes much better.

Last time audit is ez with lesser regulation and standard changing. Ur last time i assumed is 10-15years ago. I can tell u the process is still more or less the same. Lasttime guad from local u go b4 2k only. Now 3k, after 15 years. Just wow.

Audit is a Low margin business. Really Low. Most companies won’t care u are pwc or kpmg etc. they only want the lowest cost option because audit is not sth they voluntarily want to do / sth that can increase revenue like consulting/advisory

U think abt all the partners right now that had been sucking thumbs for 20 years, just to get to their partner position now. And discover that the business was not as good as it was and medium and small CPAs trying to steal your cake. To justify for their years of grinding, obv they would want to keep their share of profits as high as possible, if business is Low, just cut down costs lah

Cut from who? Low starting pay at 3k and hire more jhk. Audit quality? Not their concern, all they got to do is to make sure no big fck ups over the years they are partner and retire with a super fat purse and good pension plan

Is a vicious cycle of the partners of partners pwn them, and once the partners made partner, they pwn us
The toxic accounting industry
