theres a lot of assumptions made in this statement. its a lot harder to do well at all these places, in the course of an audit, it becomes apparent that majority of people with more experience in general dont have the same pay slope as big4. with that flatter slope you jump to big 4, i dont see how you catch up to the person already ahead of the curve. its a different ball game jumping from professional services to corporate and vice versa.

of course work life balance is important. nobody regrets not working harder for the company on their death bed. i always do the bare minimum at big 4 and still managed to last until senior. fake it till you make it. i strongly advise everyone to do the bare minimum so that the greedy bastard partners will know that they have to hire more people instead of asking 1 person to tank 2-3 person workload
i always laugh at my colleagues who OT until 3am and sacrificed their weekends for the company while i refuse to work on weekends. my rating is ok cause i know how to fake it

EY is the best. Work life balance is good, I work from home, I can exercise, go on lunch dates . I dont work after 8 pm and I can wake up late.
No one bugs me about what Im actually doing on a day to day basis, as long as I keep producing my work when its due , they're ok.
Health and medical benefits and welfare fund is great too

At most you can nego within the band but it’s really narrow.

Ok.. They offered SM1 that I wasn't keen for. Would anyone happen to know the band for SM2 in business consulting - EY.

Actually everyone should just do the bare minimum. I hate those ****ers who OT until 4am and send email to client, manager and partner at 3-4am. Don't spoil market and try to wayang. You think partner will suddenly reward you with 3 months bonus for your hard work?
Work is never ending so just do what you can do and shut down laptop latest by 8pm

Troll your head. I never work during weekends one. I don't understand why so many people love to work during weekends during off peak period. There are many idiots who love to send email at 3-4am. Hello, don't wayang leh. How old already still want to wayang? You think people will reply at 3am?
There are also many clueless senior managers in EY who do not know how to manage people. They just tachi most of the stuff to the senior and assistants and do not bother to provide explanation or guidance. The firm pay you 10k for what? No wonder EY is like shiit with all these incompetent senior managers and greedy partners
