Younger workers interviewed disagree with such characterisations, saying that they prefer to “work smart” and they also know that a tight labour market means their options are aplenty
They also feel that pulling longer hours and sacrificing work-life balance to achieve workplace success are outdated notions
Maybe Big4 needs to relook at their existing operating model.
Longer hours in exchange for career progression no longer appealing.

I want to create a meaningful discussion of big 4 audit and hope to get constructive feedbacks. Since many of you are concerned about the going concern of big 4 audit in the future given the lack of capable manpower, can you suggest some solutions? Personally, I myself will suggest we change the structure of big 4 salaries. Instead of equity partners, we can have salaried partners where profits are distributed to employees and more more employers are employed. With the increase in manpower there will be fewer worked hours. Though equity partners will be unhappy since their big fat profits are out of their reach. SM gunning for partners will be unhappy too. But this will increase the longevity of audit and instill a better working culture. Quality of audit will be higher as well. What’s your take?

You already self-conclude what.
Equity partner's take & SM gunning for partner's take: **** idea
Everyone else down the chain: Great idea! Support.
