Can work through the night depends on your team / size of client / timeline. Even if you do not want to OT, can. But if managers ask for the status, how are you gonna explain when you choose not to OT which means the work is not completed..

Bear in mind that new associates have to handle a lot of workload given that the seniors are leaving anytime. Can be more than 12 hours unfortunately at the start for weeks / months

I think what he’s trying to ask if he doesn’t plan on making partner, means he don’t need to get a “A+” score but just a passing score.

In that case, still need to OT?

Be it getting a A+ or passing score, you also still need to study. And Yes OT is mandatory

Unlike exams where you can leave blank and submit half done work, in real life you need to finish everything.

If that means needing to OT, then yes.
