Happens all the time, it’s a small world.

Pray hard don’t get the same jobs as your former classmates else a bit paiseh sia to work directly under them. But if your ego can take it then it’s fine lor.

Especially got case, Poly GPA3.8 go Uni, study get FCH.

Another guy Poly GPA3.3, cannot go Uni so go straight to work as Associate Assistant, climb to A1 in 2 years.

Then the 3.3 guy become the senior of the 3.8 guy omg

NS is not a waste of time it is a mandatory requirement given the situation our nation is facing. The nation does give back to you by allowing you the opportunity to get a BTO flat which you will reap financial rewards after MOP. However I do agree on your point that for local guys especially, going to NTU over the other big 2 does make sense.

Let's say you retire at 50-60. Working years is about 25-40 years. One year doesn't make a difference.

It is actually not that bad. I had a good friend who finished in 3 years and went same firm as me. I just asked him to pass me working files templates when we need to do something quite new (change of regulation and etc).

And reporting line is blurred in big4 if you are good. I had overstepped my SM a few times and he is not very happy about it. But not that he can do much when he is bad at his job.

Yeah, but i think in this scenario the poly gpa 3.8 guy needs to get his degree or acca first before he can promote to A1

Agree with your viewpoint too. I guess at the end of the day it just boils down to what the individual think. For me, it is definitely better to start work earlier

Easily $60K difference! The amount compounded at 2.5% in 30 years and you will observe whether got difference or not.
