Why do you want the professional qualification if you are not going to be a partner and signing off account?
Overseas context, CPA may still look good? But for local context, I think no one really care? Maybe can take a look at the profile of other acct grads that have joined MNCs directly (Unilever, GE, Shell or one of those GLCs). I stop paying the annual fees for while. But I am not in an accounting role anymore, so it is less relevant to me

what about for other inhouse finance functions like treasury, fp&a, strategic finance etc. is the professional qualification useful?

It is like something that is good to have but not required. Will say it is about branding than actual usefulness since the CPA is needed only for signing off accounts (for assurance or other purpose)?
I don't think most Singapore based offices are that particularly about such qualifications. At least it has been the case when I look at my own job opportunities, look at my colleagues who had such accreditation but still blur, and look at how my bosses and I assess candidates. There is abit more focus on education and experience. Maybe overseas offices would care abit more about such qualifications.
You can do a quick google search for treasury analyst opportunities and fp&a opportunities and see what is in the job description. Good chance that CPA is not mentioned as a criteria or a compulsory criteria.
For some of the functions that you mentioned, there could be other qualifications that is more relevant when you think about branding or knowledge. For instance, I can see how CPA (think there is some parts on management accounting) could still be relevant for fp&a. But I don't see how it matters for treasury function.

Yea the internet is full of fake news.
But you have to be REALLY stupid to be lying about B4 salaries… on a thread visited by B4 employees.
Like, you would be exposed and called out instantly. Totally never think ahead at all lol.

ikr. With the recent increment, now the big4 salaries are slightly above 3k, so it's around 3.2k - 3.5k (or at most 3.6k max). if a1 starting paying is 3.8k hmmm i think is possible, just need to wait a few more years

The cpf thing is a known thing? Not sure about SME, but pretty sure any decent setup will have some form of arrangement for equal hiring.
Which firm is yours and JHK nowadays got so stuck up? My time, the batchmates, mid joiners, and some of the mgr/partners were quite ok. Granted MY (and mostly UK/AU/SG unis) maybe accounted for 20-30% of my batchmates
