A large part of this is because 50% of what I'm doing is either self-taught or things I figured out by myself along the way without knowing for sure if this is the way it is meant to be.

Am 2021 grad from nus bac. Most of the ppl from my batch that end up in b4 audit are those cmi type with **** cv. Those that actively built up cv can easily fetch close to 5k. Top grads all go ib, consult, investment roles

you are supposed to try learn from your seniors, emulate them, get a sense of the project management needed. Learn how to carry an engagement independently from start to finish.
some people think they won't stay long so they never bother learning all that
then when they reach senior, jialat liao, not prepared/ready, this and that also dunno.
so they really end up quitting. like self-fulfilling prophecy.

If you are smart you will get out by the 5 year mark, even 3 years is fine if the opp is there. Learn so much for what?

I know a top grad who went b4 because his parents force him to gain experience before parachuting him into family business. So can “earn respect” otherwise no one will listen to him as a fresh grad director.

If you hate it, jump
If you find something else you want to do, jump
If you are not inside and plan to join and jump after 1 year.. why don't you look for something else

That's true. If you go out and experience something else, you will realise that you can easily improve the audit process
But audit is audit. The whole industry is about going through motion, and those who left are not going to come back to shake the boat. So not surprising to see big4 around the world receiving so much flak. It is just waiting for ppl to realise the audit quality is actually ****
