Uhm, 12k is actually on the lower end of a big4 SM's pay especially if you're in the deals/consulting practice. And if both are an average performer, it still takes a shorter amount of time to reach SM in big4 vs a SM/AD level or mx9 in civil service. Earning potential in big4 is higher and provides better exit opportunities too. But I'll admit it definitely loses out on the work life balance bit.

How many years to reach SM in civil service?
Do they accept second lower or third class honors degrees?
Can you just delegate out all your groundwork and purely be a project manager?

If you're not a government scholar, don't bother with civil service. Unless you're happy with average pay and average life

Why not? The exposure you get in Big 4 is invaluable

Unlikely any partner will do this, unless you offer minister equivalent.

Why not? civil service directors can earn 300 k per annum and CFOs 500 k
