please pls pls don't be stupid and join audit as a fch. i would assume you worked hard for a fch in uni.

the nature of auditing is really rote, unstimulating and process driven and you'll be ground down to the same level as those malaysian private degree holders by virtue of the fact that u're doing the same routine tasks as them.

after 1 or 2 years in audit, your competitive advantage in the job market as an fch would have been eroded to virtually nothing. simply because you were doing these low level tasks for the starting few years of your career while your peers (even those second upper/lower) were doing far higher order tasks. all your hard work in uni would've been wasted.

if you are naturally intelligent n got your fch without much effort, then it's an even more egregious waste of your innate ability when you could be doing something more stimulating (and presumably be much better compensated for it).

If you want to join big 4, no one is going to stop you

This forum is to share info and salary

In the process, give people the truth about public accounting so that they can go in with eyes open

Industry has changed, work hard for 15-20 years and get a shot at partner is foolhardy

Now the trend is non equity aka salaries partner

The nature about the work culture has been publicly available since more than 10 years ago!

Why do we still see people join every year and go surprised pikachu that this wasn’t what they expected? Are they so mis-informed that they didn’t read the forums or ask their seniors before joining?

It’s one thing to read about the hours online and another to experience it.

People initially thought that some audit tasks will definitely be very time consuming so need to OT. They didn't expect some big 4 to be so cheapskate until one person need to manage 2 -3 engagements concurrently or the audit team to be so understaffed.

would other business lines better than audit? or is all the business lines across big 4 all understaffed?

Why is the trend heading toward non equity partner? Should equity partner be the ideal?

I thought/assumed EY is all equity partner?
