To be frank, not a lot of difference. Anyway the 'better competence' is a trade-off

I heard most Singaporean grads don't want to join big 4 already. Those who join also use big 4 as a stepping stone or to boost resume

Wat happened to pwc. I thought they are the most coveted big 4 of all?

Not the case 20 to 30 years ago when big 4 firms were very prestigious and gen x didn't mind the horrible work life balance

Circumstances (Economy, Cost of living; standard of living, social media) in 2021 are clearly different as compared to 1990 to 2000. There is no point comparing, just move on from your boomer mindset.

Gen Z has different thinking and priorities. There may once have been a generation willing to put in blood sweat and tears into their careers, but this is no longer the case.

We also have many attractive alternative career options now. Public Sector remains stable, Tech is offering skyhigh salaries, and MNCs are offering management associate programs which accelerates career progression- causing some unhappiness among senior workers as a fresh graduate turns manager after an 18 months rotation, I know.

Let me be Captain Obvious and point out the kids born in 2000 are turning 21 this year. The girls will be graduating as soon as next year, and the boys to follow in a couple of years.

It may be shocking to you, but 30 years ago is 1991, not 1960s or 1970s. And we are closer to 2030 than to 2000.

Exactly. Boomer partners in big 4 need to wake up and understand why local grads are shunning big 4 or just using big 4 as a stepping stone and not staying more than 2-3 years.Boomer partners haven't realised that there are many attractive alternative career options now with better work life balance and higher starting pay. They should also stop pretending to care about our mental heath when they are obsessed with revenue growth.

Gen Z will rather be self employed as influenza rather than slogging in your sweatshop.
