Big4 is ok when you are in it, and some people are apprehensive about leaving (future job prospects, work nature, pay). But once you exit, you will realize that there is a whole new world outside and what really matters

Actually big 4 life can be quite ok if they just reduce the workload and hire more people. Colleagues are generally nice just that they are stressed so they may appear mean at times. This one cannot blame them since everyone’s is suffering. Of course management is not going to reduce workload to retain more people

hi guys, I'm excited to join one of the big 4!
i feel that this will be a huge boost to my career (resume) even though i do not perform an audit or accounting role.
i will be joining the back-office -- (tech side).. and I am getting a $5600 offer. do you think this is a good start already?

While it’s better than joining a no-reputation company, you correctly pointed out B4 is more about audit / accounting.
If you are a NUS, Computer Science, First Class or Second Upper honours, I would recommend you visit the Tech thread for advice instead.
Joining B4 for Tech to me feels like joining Omnicom to do accounting, or Google to do marketing. They’re large companies and will still offer you a good career but you are not joining what they are famous and big for.

I think poster is just trolling people here about how low audit salaries are la.
Btw, if poster was genuine, a 5.6K offer for tech in this market is indicative of mediocrity, not success.

and by the way, i am still on my mid-age. i am not an uncle YET, so i am not rushing for that 'SUCCESS' yet. i am building my career atm.

Thank you. Sounds like a $5.6 for early-30 is low for everyone. Anyway, I hoping for the best.

People who think audit salaries are low have never read the story of the ugly duckling.

Most MNCs will have accounting, marketing, and IT departments.
But if you join a precision engineering MNC, to do accounting, you are just a cost centre, a support department. You can still become Head of Finance or FC, but you’re still not the main driver of the firm as compared to the Head Engineer.

Thanks for the info! Just wondering if i switch my career from audit to financial consultant, will I be able to beat my peers those abovementioned industries in terms of salary in let's say 1 or 2 years time?
