Without high median salaries, its impossible to retain or attract top talents in accountancy
Its a one way road to hell.
When accounting employees stop placing in 100% effort everyday due to salary then on industry side we will have plenty of problems with the finance department workings
Then alot of SG CEO will kpkb about how bad accounting sector is without realising the root cause of the problem
For those who done NS, Its like learning BCCT in BMT and fighting Mike Tyson after that
It doesnt work that way with unrealistic expectations

you must be an a1. if you havent been keeping up with the industry, there is a lack of talent which is why the salary has been increasing year on year. anyone with half a brain will progress with or without OT. just do the bare minimum and clock out.
ive survived for 7 years, and i can safely say, if you are sufficiently capable (and that benchmark is tough to meet even nowadays) you will progress even if you close laptop at 6pm vs someone who works till 2am daily and cant connect the dots.

anyone in a senior enough position usually handles stress very well. ive had SMs/partners from both genders staring down the barrel of a gun dealing with fraud and acra inspection even court summons. just all in a days work for them.

As a former A1 in terms of Principles of Accounting, its unrealistic for A1 to operate at full production capability by 6pm

I must correct you here
This industry don't need talents, they lack manpower. It's a sweatshop malaysian broken english dumping ground that need you to sell your soul.
You also need to realize the bare minimum is basically doing the correct audit procedure. People work crazy hours to have the correct procedure done.
