@EDMWer ISCA Young Professionals Advisory Committee (YPAC) is open for nominations until 30 Nov 2024.
You should consider applying—young, innovative individuals like you are exactly what the industry needs to drive positive change. Let me know if you'd like me to nominate you.

Accounting industry in SG is gg
Go commercial also the same. They want people with big 4 experience cause they just want slaves who can be squeezed dry. Many deadlines, simi month end, quarter end closing. Want to take leave also difficult and most people still work while holidaying overseas.
Accounting dept always one of the last few people to leave office

Hi friends! Need some advice on going into Big 4 Deals Advisory, FP&A or Consultancy. Would appreciate any advice or perhaps a career guidance.
Context: Big 4 audit associate for ~1y Finance & Marketing degree, currently pursuing CFA Prior internship experience in Asset management, Tech, Business Planning & Operations.
Similar to many audit associate/seniors, I don’t have much interest in audit in a long run and merely a stepping stone. It is interesting at the start and was able to learn a lot, but even so, I always wanted to pivot out. Was considering multiple roles, such as FP&A, Deals Advisory or consultancy. I have seen many associates/seniors who have managed to pivot into these fields even for associates who have only been in audit for 6 months. Was wondering how they are able to do it, as I was searching for other Big 4s & SMEs for these roles, I don’t quite happen to meet the requirements. However, I managed to get some interviews in Deals from a Big4 & some SMEs for FP&A analyst.
If anyone could share their experience on how they pivot into FP&A, Deals or Consultancy, I would really appreciate it! I have no intention of staying in Audit till senior and would like to pivot out ASAP and based on advice from others, being a senior at Big 4 would not benefit me much from being an entry level analyst in the fields that I am hoping to pivot into.
Would also be grateful if anyone would suggest other finance related fields that could be possible. I really don’t mind grinding through a couple of years of my career. However, IB roles are definitely out for me as I have no prior internship experience & Below average grades.

grades matter. the assumption is uni is so easy, how dumb do you have to be to flunk it?
if you can't get in on merit, then connections is the only way.
