Circumstances change, environment change, culture change and it is natural that people change. We are all being honest here, many people realize audit is not for them when the higher management treat them as slaves. True audit experience helps in securing next job to a certain extent and people might have passion in other areas and make a switch in career. How is this contradicting? Audit becomes so toxic because of unreasonable management over the years.

There’s nothing wrong with saying something different now compared to the past, but changing your stance without recognising the value of the audit experience you gained is short-sighted.
Sure, circumstances and environments change, but that doesn't mean you abandon or disregard the foundation you built and audit experience you gained. It's still what will help you get ahead.
It's not about staying in audit for 20+ years. It’s about using the skills and experience you have gained to pivot intelligently and not just quit audit out of frustration.
Saying audit isn't for you now doesn’t change the fact that it’s the stepping stone for your next job opportunity.
Yes, management can be toxic, but that doesn't diminish the importance of pushing through for the long-term benefits.

If its valuable. Client will be happy to pay more fee. Ever wonder ehy some firm pay millions for audit? Is ur partner and the client management or snr executive friends? Usually they all connected... heck.. even the partners are bod somewhere... if u involved in ethics and risk management u will see hw BS audit can be. Sadly there are too many blinded auditors now, saving the profession without knowing whats going on.. i think the public and the state of accting industry can tell you why. Stop working 12 to 16hrs a day. Go out and take a look.
