IRAS & Govt dont care because the economic benefit of having JHK/Singaporeans is the same.
Its merely nationality difference to the authorities.
But for true blue singaporeans, its really non competitive.
You work NS for 2 years and naturally you lose out in temrs of audit experience for 2 years thus making you uncompetitive in terms of job competition
This is a fact that authorities WILL NEVER acknowledge

Please dont give excuse like NS.
Most of the partners in big4 and midtiers are locals
Audit is considered late game career,

The problem is that this accounting industry is inherently reliant on cheap foreign labour like nursing and foreigners like accounting as its iron ricebowl.
Therefore, with 2 years NS & reservist liability it creates a more acute situation in this industry where experience is considered one of the main aspects for hiring
Yes it ultimately works out for those locals who are partners and CFO/CEO as they have cheap labour
Then again, ultimately hiring someone is based on meritocracy thus performance - i dont see why they should discriminate against a foreigner in terms of performance
Tax rebates, tranche rewards, skills future and the $100 yearly NS bonus needs to be something more substantial to translate into tangible benefits for NS Men
Government should weigh the pros and cons of brain drain (eg. People like Chew Shou Zi eventually settling overseas? and to really come up with a comprehensive solution to address this issue)

Late game career is no longer the meta when people just want to YOLO and make the most of their 20s.
Touch your heart - how many nights were you OTing while your friends posted photos of them partying and travelling on IG?

mid tier don't have better wlb lolllll
Their clients are smaller and more shitty, more hours spent on recons and lots of variances
also, due to small clients, lower audit fees, so need to double/triple book.
thats why mid tier salary also lower.
big 4 usually work only 1 engagement at a time and clients more competent. Less stress, as compared to working on small shitty clients

Tell me you've never worked in a B4 without telling me you've never worked in a B4.

To further connect the dots, a capable CEO will always require a capable CFO to be the playmaker
In terms of stakeholder analysis :
A.Potential Singaporean/PR accounting students who are due for NS
1. Confirm plus chop will avoid accountancy
B. CFOs who have done NS
1. Realised that their nationality and NS liability can be averted thus take steps to migrate overseas so their child will have a more equal playing field.
(Already know that the wasted NS time is a sunk cost and noted that any nationality can game the system)
C.Business sector
1. Lack of economic growth as Singaporeans CEOs majority lack entrepreneurial spirit plus
further stagnation for Singaporean companies as CFO quality dwindles due to lack of choiced candidates
Imagine a Batman where Robin/Alfred is not able to assist.
Solution? Can more targetted benefits be given to NS Men who are in accounting sector?
