strange argument you are making here. it’s not hard to earn more than M outside. equivalent experience in commercial probably nets you more than M pay. just do payroll and take a look at FM / VP pay including bonus and compare against your own. incorporate working hours, audit will lose 80% of the time
audit pay has always been suppressed because of the “progression” and delayed gratification. but i don’t think people are buying that anymore. i know people who left as seniors and easily got 20-30% pay increment. their peers inside will take another 2-3 years to get there. and by then they would have increased again / can jump again. audit model no longer makes sense to anyone who doesn’t want to be partner. don’t forget the guy who left earlier now has commercial exp as well adding to his depth and breath of experience.
audit used to be competitive. and even with the recent round of increments. it honestly still isn’t lol. even then it’s also a circle jerk because bonus is confirm going down lol after base salary increase. seen this movie before. just that those new to the industry are watching this movie for the first time

IDEA ALERT!!! why don't big 4 recruit from mid tier like BDO/crowe/baker
instead of recruiting from Malaysia SCREW YOU EY FOR BEING SO SHAMELESS
so this solves the manpower shortage at big 4 and we leave the midtier and small firms for the malaysians
and locals working in mid tier have a change at higher salaries/better opportunities in big 4

Previously, people from the Big 4 firms said that ACCA, RMIT, or UOL graduates shouldn't perform their audit engagements. But now, Malaysian graduates transferred from EY KL to EY SG are allowed to audit. Does that seem fair?
