Alot of client who are working as accountants and accounts executive resigned from their jobs and position because the pressure from auditors and also could not meet the filing deadlines.

So end up the accountants and accounts executive rather resigned and run away this yearly issue.

This profession feels so ungrateful and unappreciated, almost like a stigma to work in. Seniors (at least my batch) worked really hard at the job, but no one seems to appreciate the effort. studied at a local uni and took the CA papers, prioritising work over life and putting in long hours. Despite all this, the pay was only slightly higher than a fresh graduate’s salary.

Before you start criticising us for being dumb, yes, maybe we were. We chose this path because it was considered an in demand course back then. In hindsight, we should not have wasted time on the CA exams as well.

People choose audit because of high salary. Easy job copy paste. Just time consuming. Just automatize audit. Software can cross check error typo etc . Why need humand who sre slow and make mistake

Slow like turtle. Report design sucks.attitude sucks.

Audit was never high salary right from the start

Compared to peers in other industries, they are making the same or more with less headache

For audit its bad for mental health as you bring back alot of mental baggage during the weekend

And sometimes those mental baggage are not within your means to solve

Back then my firm got try do this automation thingy lah

But hired some imposter SWEs, made some lame automation tool that only adds on to the workload. Before automation seniors and associates just have to vet clients GL, after automation, review GL + results from the automation software to make sure both are in line. The whole team that supports the development of this automation have 0 idea abt the audit business and very limited skill sets to build what can be truly useful to save time

Still I give credit to the partners who bothered trying. You know most of the time is not they don’t want to use AI or automation. Is partners want high margin aka hire 2 more MY seniors to OT till 3 am is easier and cheaper than implementing an AI solution

The reason why certain so manual tasks are still not automated but instead offshored to other countries is purely because is cheaper to do so

I really don't understand

Why until today the clients still does not understand WIP and construction revenue?

I really don't understand why the client still does not know how to prepare WIP schedule

Like what another forumer said

The entire sector is doomed to failure.

You are practically auditing work done by foreigners with limited knowledge at the 11th hour

The fees are low & must do timesheet for what happens to be

Meanwhile at their home office, they are facing many problems within their finance department too which result in low quality accounting work

This is ignoring your own audit team problems. Still have your own boss and regulator’s requirements

Its basically SCDF fire fighting a huge fire without water truck
