Hi everyone, I told my client that our audit industry are facing shortage of auditors and graduates joining us.
However, my client say this is your problem, not my problem.
Is my client correct?

Partially? It’s your side problem, but not your (personal) problem.
It’s something your firm needs to deal with.
Unless you are the big boss, then yes your problem.

LOL
Perfectly normal for partner to do vouching and fieldwork
Must be more hands on to approach the issue to understand first hand
LOL

Partially correct. You are mere service provider, so sort out your own manpower issues. Imagine you send your car for repair, your car workshop boss tell you that all his jhk mechanics went back for CNY so manpower shortage and will finish repairs 1 week late. Your problem or his problem?
On the other hand, the rapid decline in audit standards affects the entire corporate market and all financial stakeholders, so it's indirectly an industry wide problem that cannot be solved by any single party.
The real solution is to critically re-examine what value audit and auditors bring to the table. In my view, almost zero.
Audit originated and was designed for the early 20th century financial markets. It is entirely unfit for purpose and has devolved into box taking and utter inability to detect fraud or provide value-added insights.
Time to abolish the industry wholesale.

But in your example, I am not the car workship boss.
I'm just a employee, how is that my problem

That's where you fail to understand this basic fact about client vs service provider relationship.
If i'm the client, I don't care whether it's the audit firm's partner's problem or the audit associate's problem, or even the audit firm's global headquarters' (in UK) problem.
All I know is that it's you guys' problem, and not my problem. I am the client and I'm paying for you to deliver services which I paid for.
I really don't care whose problem it is amongst you guys. Go sort it out among yourselves, or your firm will be dropped for the next FY.
Get it now?
