Agree on the atrocious quality of some of the JHK they mass hire during Covid period. All they know is haolian about their years of audit experience in Tan Ah Kao SME audit firm and simi ulu jiuhuland big4. But when it comes to doing wp, they only know how to blindly copy last year. Almost fainted when I saw how they write the flux analysis. Even the fresh local grad can better use their brain and write better. Oh ya, you know what they are also better at as compare to local? OT for dunno god what reason. To them, every engagement whether big or smal, urgent or not, all must OT. Lol must be the power of 3.5:1

big 4 experience overseas mah.

but then again, some singaporeans are incredibly lousy too. i had an associate that absolutely could not understand how to even vouch cash. but cannot say anything bad because "they are first years trying their best"

honestly i think instead of interviewing, should just give everyone a test audit to test their skills and common sense.

partner hire bulk of them during covid 19 because when covid hit, they severely lacked manpower cos they cannot cross the borders. imagine if u hire 1 jhk and he stuck at border until they reopen, so they no choice but to hire another jhk as that is already in sg, as client is making noise. End up they have 2 jhk.

Cost of audit fee from client is higher than having 2 jhk in the short run. but in the long run the cost of 2 jhk adds up. so no choice need PIP them.

the excuse for not hiring now is becos they "want to give the existing staff more exposure". this lame excuse together with PIP is to cut the fat. once jhk all leave, they will take in more locals.

u cannot compare fresh grad locals to experienced hire malaysians.
its fair if u compare fresh grad locals and fresh grad malaysians
our locals will perform better because NTU NUS SMU wins tunku abdul, sunway

What locals? Mid tier also no more locals, where to get them from?

The fresh msians from the three local uni are super grateful for the EP and super chiong. The fresh locals are very sian because they settled for audit because couldnt get other fancy jobs and are very unmotivated. I had 4 local juniors and all already asking me how to transfer to advisory in the 2nd and 3rd month of their job while not delivering on their tasks.
The local interns are far more motivated but being from private degree or poly, they're weaker in terms of learning. If not for the ridiculous amount of new mind-boggling rules and regulations, I actually prefer them but I seriously need quick learners at this time.
We dont sponsor visa for fresh tonkotsu ramen uni jokers so no point comparing.

I would just hire the tonkatsu ramen uni jokers and make them work like dog while lying to them that i would help them get PR. I would then PIP them when they are no longer useful.
