Can somebody explain why the interns and fresh grads these days doesn't seem to know how to use computers? They literally type like my grandma but just want to treat this as a data entry job yet they can't even do a quality job at it. But we cannot ask them to do better either because "later they tell their fellow students not to join Big 4". How to get audit done if they take one whole day to vouch 20 samples?

Audit partners are literally the lousiest lobbyists. Go compare your partners to bankers, lawyers, businessmen and see the quality of their schmoozing. No sales skill needed to be audit partner, deals just fall into their lap by virtue of being Big 4.

Everyone uses a smartphone and Macbook these days. Most younger people have never touched a Windows computer so they don't even know that there's such a thing as keyboard shortcuts and have never used Excel. Anyway, these are CCC students so don't expect any critical thinking, drive, initiative, or quality work from them. I'm in a (non-audit) firm where we screen for high GPA so even our interns don't have this issue and are perfectly capable of googling for answers first before asking their seniors.
Best to just lie flat too since even the managers are dead. Just act blur since you still have time till the next PIP, and find a job in the meantime. Don't stay too long in audit because from what I hear, most hiring managers these days don't want candidates without corporate experience because the job market is flooded with candidates.
