First Advantage Background Check
Just received a bank offer and the HR told me they use First Advantage for BC.
Anyone been through this recently?
How does the process work. They send you a form and you fill out prior employers and HR contact details, education, countries lived in?
Other than ID, anything else in the form to fill out so they can check criminal record and credit history.
My new employer says it takes close to a month. Is it really true? Or can BC With First Advantage be done quicker?
For my last job the background check company was so useless they almost cost me the job. Does First Advantage in Singapore do a good job? Or are all the things I read on the internet about how crap they are true?

Personal recent experience with First Advantage has been very smooth. Not sure if it varies company to company - but for mine, I was given a url link to enter with a provided username and password, go through the questionnaire about yourself, education, employment all of that jazz, upload the documents there and viola done!

Awesome. Sounds pretty straight forward. With prior employers, do they provide the option to give them contacts details of HR to verify my me? Or do they try to hunt for the right person? With my last background check, the BC company just sent random messages to [email protected]. Of course no one replied so the BC company
just wrote unable to verify.
And roughly, how long did they take? And did they notify you of completion?
I have overseas living in the past 7 years so that may slow it down for me!?

If I recall, contact details of my past employers were optional. I didn’t face any issues. The BC company did not provide a notification on the completion of BC. I just received an email from onboarding team days before my first day, hence assumed that BC was successful without a hitch.

Untrustable, a simple education BG check and they could screw it up

So many horror stories of these BC companies. Reddit is full of them.

First Advantage background checks typically go back 7 years, which aligns with the common industry standard for reviewing criminal records and other background information. However, the specific time frame can vary based on the type of check and applicable local laws.
