What are BAND 5 positions - M20/21/22/23 etc at Standard Chartered Bank?
Hi All
In Standard Chartered Bank , Singapore , I find it very confusing about BAND 5 positions - M20/21/22/23 etc
What are those bands mean? Is there a definitive guide? ( Like Band 4 position is called Executive Director and they are Head of Certain Function ).
Same way, what are these grades mean?
Is it like?
M23 - SVP ?
M22 - VP ?
M21 - AVP ?
M20 - Executive ?
I don't know, just guessing ... Anyone aware of this classification @ SCB ?
Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm in banking as well, albeit not for a very long time, just around ~4 years.
Band "X" / M "Y" is SCB's internal classification of their ranking/positions.
I'm not an expert, and haven't been employed in SCB, but based on what I understand from peers:
Band 8 / M16-17 - Analyst (entry level, fresh grads, etc)
Band 7 / M18-19 - Managers / Associate
Band 6 / M20-21 - Associate Director
Band 5 / M22-23 - Director (or VP equivalent in other European/American banks)
Band 4 - Executive Director (or Director equivalent in other European/American banks)
...

Local banks, HSBC and SCB are notorious for having inflated titles. VP in such banks are typically only an associate level in US/European banks.

Agree on local banks and HSBC! SCB though don’t have a “VP” title per say but they have “Director” which is equivalent to a VP in US banks. Similar to UBS.
