Ah! So you're someone who is from the industry?
Not even a basic?

I used to work for a brokerage firm. Actual compensation depends on company policy, there is no fixed standard for pay. Last time my company operated on an advance draw down scheme.
I know others in the industry who are on 100% variable while some actually have a small but decent basic, so you have to find out from the company yourself.

It seems like a sales job for the broker going out to clinch deals. Based on observation, jobs are more resistance than banks in the finanical sector.

what you mean more resistant?
My friend is more afraid that it's too specialised that he may find it hard to find another job if he ever gets out.

Banks hire and fire during boom and burst cycle respectively. Wheteas reinurance will still be in demand during reccession to hedge against the risk.

All companies hire and fire. When is the last time you heard a bank firing staff en mass in singapore? It's been more than 13 years since UOB fired some staff.

I think he meant retrenchment.
2007-2008 definitely saw banks letting fairly large groups of employees go.
You sure UOB has not fired staff in more than 13 years? Quite unlikely leh..

So TS what is the point of your thread? You ask for info on reinsurance broker, I can see some posts above that answer you.
But you don't seem to be interested in follow up and just want to tcss on other topics?

Just trying to find out more information for a friend as she's really concerned about her future in this line.
So would be good if anyone is in this niche industry in SG and can shed more light on whether the salary will hit 5k and above after 3-4 years experience or is it peaking at 5k..

hmm..13 yrs? are u kidding me? Dun mean to sound rude but where did u get your data?
Ever heard of Asia financial crisis, dot com bubble and recent great recession in 08 if your memory still dun fail you.
Last heard BoA is lashing 30,000 jobs by 2012 with UK banks like HSBC and RBS following suit. Other banks are tighting up and lowering cost by shifting operations and freezing hire at the moment.
