True. I went a different path wanting to get into public service after graduation. My first job in private sector was just $2000. Went for few interviews but they only want to match my pay. Went into GLC with experience but was paid lower than fresh grad salary. After few years, left for private sector which has given me a pay bump.
I won't say that I am very successful, but I believe most SIM-UOL grads will do better with more experience in the private sector.

Second this. Local / private uni graduates are most likely out there working their butts of or sourcing for jobs during this pandemic. The trollers here are most likely the old birds who were retrenched or have their spot in the company taken over by the younger fresh graduates.
At the end of the day, regardless of which uni you're from, make full use of the opportunity given to you. I'm from a local uni myself but but I have colleagues from private uni (not insurance sorry) who are performing way better than their local uni counterparts. All the best!

Agree. Am From local uni, from what I see, companies will rather take UOL fch over local uni second lower.
The disadvantage can be overcome.

NUS BBA and other quant-heavy courses (like Engineering/Mathematics) awarded by local unis will always be higher up in the pecking order regardless of the honors classification. However fret not cuz at this juncture, you’ll still be invited for superday unless you suay-suay the max count for the AC is limited.
Final hiring decision afterwards is based on your performance.
Btw, there people from SIM-UOL in my dept. Jia you guys.

Hi, thanks for your perspective.
I'm very interested in entering the banking sector (non-IB), currently a final year student at one of your mentioned courses. May I contact you for some advice?

BSc Econs & Management 3rd Class
Starting salary - 2.6k
Current salary - 4k
Have a friend:
BSc Econs & Finance 1st Class
Starting salary - 3.5k
Current salary - not too sure but seems to be around 5k+
Duration is about 5 years for both.
Anyway, now is covid-19 labour environment so it might be good to lower expectations a little.
Best of luck to all fellow UOL grads and undergrads.
