what do u expect from a forum where SIM-UOL grads think that 3.5k starting pay is the norm (for fresh grads without any experience at all) ?

I will be graduating in May 2015 with a BSc B&F degree after my final exams (hooray!) and am really keen on pursuing a career as a Management Consultant. Top choices, of course, go to MBB Consulting firms followed by local and foreign consulting firms.
Would like to seek advice on:
1. What firms are good in the industry
2. If the number of graduates of SIM-UOL getting in is high
3. How and What I can do to score an interview with them (I'm pretty confident with my interview skills!)
If you have been there, done that or heard of similar cases, please feel free to share! Criticism is accepted if that can make me improve (Y)

I was previously from Bain. I hate to say this, and I don't mean to put you down, but to put it bluntly, you have absolutely no idea what you are seeking for. The top tier consulting firms such as McK and Bain simply do not hire from SIM. It's just not going to happen. They will, extremely rarely, hire out of NUS/ SMU/ NTU. And they will very rarely hire out top tier US schools. The only people who actually do stand a decent chance are those from Harvard, Wharton, Chicago, etc. And even then, the chances of landing the job isn't exactly that great.
I'm not sure what the starting salaries are now as i've been out of the industry for a while, but there's a very good reason why these places pay fresh grads upwards of 10k a month.

I am just gonna listen to this person with concrete experience since the rest just sound like backseat drivers. Thanks for your wake up call, I will think it through and make more realistic goals.

Way of an attitude to some of the earlier folks who offered their genuine thoughts, experience or not. You don't have to be from MBB to know the sort of folks in MBB. You have more than just goals to fix if success is the ultimate aim.

You're right, you don't have to be from MBB to know the ways of MBB. Could you enlighten me then, where a person best would be to know how a company works? Obviously I know its a top investment firm, and i know its super hard to get in DUH. So im asking for a solution to that, if i can't get in then i'll just have to aim lower thats it.
And that's where you're wrong, I listen to people who give honest advice, if they're here to diss don't use vulgarities. If they don't respect you, why should we respect them?

Can you stand people like these?
I only responded to you cause you sound like a person who can reason.
I actually responded to the rest who did offer genuine advice.
