You cannot get that kind of salary, doesn't mean everyone is a failure like you.

Last time my friend who got FCH Economics and Finance was offered 3.5k for compliance role in a local bank. It's a 5 day work week but he does have to OT often but that's just banking in general it seems.

Granted that was a few years back but I think you are getting a decent deal.

Hopefully you can negotiate for a bit more but otherwise, I think it is ok.

My friend who got FCH Economics and Finance was offered a position at Tampines St 81 coffeeshop as a cleaner. It's a 5 day work week and he does have to OT often but that's just SIM-UOL degree holders in general it seems - unable to achieve anything in life.

What kind of role/company are you at? While it's steady progression, I will suggest you changing/jumping company to have a significant increment.

I see. This industry MO/BO is not short of opportunities, I strongly suggest to start looking out. Your tenure with your current Company; 7 years, is enough already. lol

I have recently gotten an offer from Prudential at a 12% increment. Should I take it?

Yes Bro. If you don't jump when you're younger you will find it difficult to move later. Because you will find it harder and harder to adapt to new working environments/systems or you have Dependents etc.

I reckon you should be around early 30s, so please jump/move when opportunity present itself. It may not be due to 'Push Factors' like you hate your current Company/Team, but for your own career's sake it's ok to move because of 'Pull Factors' as well.

Thanks. I'm actually in my late 40s. Took SIM degree in early 40s.

No.

Compare the WLB and everything else. Don't just look at pay. 12% bump means jack **** if you go from a good WLB to a OT dog life.

Those extra hours you work won't make up for the 12% difference.

I see. But like the poster above me shared, it's about which boat are you more aligned with me.

My Boat = Climb Corporate Ladder with any opportunity possible.

The other Boat = WLB etc.

So I guess you have to decide which stage of life your Boat is prioritizing now. haha

Can easily jump. But I did a rough survey of classmate and their salary after 6 years is not much different from mine. I'm currently comfortable with my job scope and the company is quite flexible with WFH arrangements. Yes there are outliers, but my guess is there is still a general stigma of SIM graduates by bigger companies and the government.

Hmmm. May not be accurate bah because your nominal YOE is definitely more than 6 years mah; inclusive of the YOEs before your degree attainment. So that's why I strongly felt you can ask for a better pay la.

The SIM grads stigma, don't be bothered by it too much lest let it limit your own growth. Just for sharing purpose, I am in the similar industry as you and I am currently holding VP role in a foreign bank with a SIM-UOL cert in my early 30s.

????????????????????????

Basic salary is the base income of an individual. Basic salary is the amount paid to employees before any reductions or increases due to overtime or bonus, allowances (internet usage for those who work from home or communication allowance). Table of Contents.
