Digital Academy Program at ST Engineering?

Hi, has anyone went through the digital academy for engineer role? Can share more about the process and also salary? Is this a go or no go, considering as I read many negative review on ST in this forum

Don't take these reviews so seriously! If ST is really that bad, where are there still so many people going there every year?! The hiring process is same as any other position, but you will have chances to learn from other government agencies. The salary is about 2.8-5 K depending on your qualification and skillsets.

Maybe it's because those people have nowhere else to go so they just join and take whatever offer that they can get and ST is one of the companies notoriously known to be very easy to get in among local UNI grads?

But hey if you wanna be delusional then go ahead. Don't cry when you realize the work culture there is hot garbage, pay is garbage, tech stack is outdated af and you realize that all the reviews on here and on glassdoor and nodeflair are all true.

Went through digital academy of ST, 2 months of basic training and 2 months of specialized training, there will be exercises to be completed and graded.
They then send you to a project, which project will be wherever that needs people, not necessary the one you specialized in.
Based on luck whether you get a good or bad project.
Salary is 4k+ with no AWS, just 12 month+bonus with a degree, not necessary local uni.

Is the training manageable? How's the work load for your project assigned, did u have to OT a lot? Thinking to apply for the program. Not from local uni so I'm wondering if the program will also have many from local uni? Since I read that it's notorious for easy entry for local u students as well

Not sure where else to apply as a fresh grad that is not from local university and can get a decent pay. And seems like ST are willing to take in fresh graduates under the digital academy program which is why I asked about ST

Perhaps you should try other options first before considering ST. Such as applying other companies or intern at a good company to gain experience...

The training are online courses, so there is no "teacher" to guide or even provide useful advice to help you along. The projects and your performance are assessed by the manager.
Don't expect this manager to provide you with constructive feedback unless you are able to gain his love and become his favorite staff.

If you join, it is a good chance for you to learn about the harsh reality of working in a bad workplace and under an unreasonable manager. You can experience workplace politics, micromanagement, unfairness and more.

They change your area of specialization anytime they want. So if you are someone with specific area of interest or goal. Then you might need to take this factor into consideration.

It's good as a backup option. But not your main option.

I have been in ST for a year now, should be securing a new offer elsewhere next week.

My take on ST is, it's not bad up to 1 year. But if you can go other places, go. The pace at which you work here, don't expect to take away much experience to go other places. Unless you're upgrading yourself on the side or you're pushing for change in tech stack and the one running the show and constantly pushing yourself to deliver those change ASAP.

You don't want to acclimatize yourself to the pace and culture there. It's... really slow.

The people in ST (for my dept) are quite nice though.

The pay is generally fine for most part. I mean, if you can only get into ST, what can you complain?

Yup, agree. It's not as bad as what people make out to be. Just don't get too comfortable in there
