I work in PA 6 months before. To me its not the politics or the work hours that kills, it's the quality of the people there are really bottom of the barrel in terms of intelligence and attitude. I'm not even talking about public sector scholars or top MNCs, even those small local ikan bilis co. have better people then PA. It was the worst 6 months of my career to this day.

Expected. Most people join PA out of desperation, it is seldom the preferred choice when choosing career. Even then the environment is so bad that many rather quit without job then stay on.

Many years ago, during my police reservist days, I met an reservist who was a Constituency Manager. He seem to be doing very well.

But then again, he was doing mostly CSSP (Community Safety & Security Programme) when he was a regular, talking to residents and grassroots. So in other words, what most people think is a cough-blood-****-job was bread and butter for him anyway and therefore, there was a career fit.

Even sai gang have the right people.

The quality of people depends on what constituency you are posted to.
It's the residents and grassroots leaders who are the real killers.
Residents who are unreasonable are a dime a dozen, even restaurant servers are treated better than CC staff.
And when you can't please them, some will go straight to the MP fb page to complain/feedback.
In order to win hearts (=likely votes), the MP will do anything to kiss their @ss.
So you being the bottom of the pyramid gets all the blame and crap.

Grassroots leaders especially the PBMs act like they are big shots and treat the managers like their personal slave.
Everyone is your boss and even your pet have a better life than you.

PA staff are no saints as well. I've seen countless times my ex-colleagues screw up even simple matters that honestly if I were the resident I would be super pissed off as well. There's just no culture of accountability and improvement over there, everyone's like a mule - get slapped by MP/Grassroots/Residents move 1 inch. The moment you take your eyes off, slide back another feet again.

Those old timers might complain how unreasonable the customers are and how crap the job is (I agree), but the reality is also with their sort of lousy attitude and total lack of professionalism, they wouldn't be able to survive anywhere else. Only PA would accept that sort of standards, even in proper ministries / stat board a lot of them would be put on PIP long ago.

Hey guys, read many scary experiences here. Haha

Just wanted to check are the other positions in PA like "Senior Programme Officer (Residents' Committee Unit)" or " Manager – Course & Interest Group Development (A)" better than Constituency Manager.

Depends. Back office jobs don't need to face residents directly so in that sense it is better, but the same cannot make it, go through motion attitude prevalent in PA is the same.
