Banking job title
Dear all,
In a bank, does AVP mean manager? I thinking that it could be as I have come to understand that below AVP is assistant manager. Can anyone advise on this?

seriously, job titles don't mean much these days. some so called AVPs or assistant directors are paid lower than managers or senior managers in other places

My title is 'manager' and I manage no one. I supervise grasscutting and rubbish collection in the sun daily.

Title is important when one is job hopping. you wont expect an analyst to job hop to Deputy Director.

my friend is called "tow kay". he doesn't need a job.
you all are just workers 看一个人的脸色吃饭. he's a boss. though he still needs to kowtow to customers (his so-called "bosses"), but he can choose to ignore some of them if he's pissed. that's the difference.
all of us should strive to be "tow kay" one day, not "analyst" or "VP" or "Director".

Could you mind telling what analyst you are doing? what is the qualification for that position?
Thanks

But the reality is that not many will be a successful towkay. most of us here are just ordinary folks.
