very good for u. one word of advice - don't let your salary shape your character coz once u lost that job, u will realise u had built ur self identity based on how much u earn, and that, my friend, is fleeting. u are still very young, so u probably don't understand this fact, but when an older and wiser person tells u this fact of life, best to be humble and listen. ok?

We spend most of our lives working, and some of us are very dedicated to our craft. I think in some ways we base our identity off what we do for a living. If we are good at that, the market rewards us proportionately.
I think it's not wrong to base your identity off salary on a surface level, but on a deeper level the reasoning should be along the lines of "I'm a good engineer, I'm a good doctor etc. therefore I deserve to get paid X amount because I know I can do my **** well"
That way even if you are out of a job, you still have an identity and recognize your own skill set, which would allow you to make a living (self employed or finding a new job) regardless.

Personally find it interesting that all these people citing they are from “FAANG” and doesn’t know it has already been rebranded to MANGA.
Not putting down the credibility of the salary but just find it interesting.

Quite common knowledge that Facebook has been rebranded to Meta. Still "Facebook's" core product has been social media for the longest time.
In social settings, I still refer to it as "Facebook" because that's what everyone is most acquainted with. Sure internally, everyone uses the new name. But not everyone is working on the new metaverse product, some are still Enterprise Engineers (Internal Systems) or working on other products.
I don't really like the new name and direction (seems a lot of uncertainty) but that's just my opinion.

Exactly lol
I don't see what's wrong with FAANG? It's used everywhere, in many other forums with 100x the userbase of this forum and actual verification checks to validate salaries and employees like teamblind, etc.
Then again what do you expect from someone who's username resolves around misogyny in tech. For all we know it could be some BBFA loser. So cringe.

I think it's more believable that people would use real salary as an argument because they have the means to back it up. Your logic doesn't make sense.
An analogy: it's like lying and saying my girlfriend is prettier than yours when I don't even have a gf. Wtf? At the end of the day, if that were me I would look back and probably wanna kill my self because that's so far from my reality.

You should indeed kill yourself worthless HR scum
