I will just give a high level description for anonymity reasons. I started out servicing financial institutions then moved to a bank to do the same work in-house. I transferred into an investment team in 2021. To be frank, I think I simply got very lucky by being at the right place at the right time, but having CFA and FRM accreditations also helped!

Ah I see, so you were in FO all along? How tough was it juggling to get CFA/FRM while working?

No I was from back office. I find it manageable as I studied finance but even then still need to be diligent about it (I put in more hours than what was prescribed online). CFA appears to be more valued in my current role, so if you would like to make the same transition, I would advise you to start with that. All the best.

That’s impressive! Am a finance major myself about to enter a MO program. Any tips to make the jump other than obtaining charters like the CFA? Curious to know how you network/what was your function in BO.
