Local Uni Grad. 3.33 GPA. Sell side Analyst. Non bank, but finance industry.
2018: $3100 at small no name boutique.
2019: $3410 (10% pay increment)
Mid-2019: $3750 (change job)
2021: $4167
Mid-2021: $5000 promoted.
Worked hard, got promoted. Pay increment higher than what I requested for. Company treat me well. Feel bad for having thoughts bout jumping to buyside.

It's a pretty steady progression you should feel proud of this! Although yes it wouldn't hurt to keep your eyes peeled for new opportunities to break through the 6k mark

Figures are way too low. Assuming you’re doing research. What’s your bonus?
Ops also earn similar/more than that after 3 years (local banks + non-grad program even).

Yes they do. Ops fresh grads in graduate programs start >4k. For direct hires ~3.5k. With 3 YOE and 1 promotion (talking about those not in grad programs), you can hit 5k.
Those in grad programs (esp. foreign banks) easily hit >6k after 3 years

But you mentioned even in non grad programme and local banks. These are usually contract roles. Pay less than 3.5k, promotion likely not even come after 3 years. MA programme or BB direct hire of course can exceed but that in itself is much more competitive alr.

I’m not from ops. But even those who started out on contract doing ops at >3k have a good chance of getting promoted at least one. Factor in yearly increment, will probably reach 5k after 3 years. MA programme in local/foreign/BBs as well as BB direct hires can reach 5k within 1-1.5 YOE. Max, max 2.
Regardless, OP is doing sell-side and 5k is more like entry-level salary (at a no name boutique) nowadays. Which is why I’m wondering if the bonuses are good. If not, exiting would be better.

Calling bs on this one - some progs don't have increment during their 1.5 - 2 years of MA/grad prog, so they are stagnant. Question is - how much is the increment after they graduate?

If the pay is less than 3.5k, means you getting makan by the bank and don't even realize it. I'm sure HR/Comps&Benefits will be happy to know that.
