Anyone work in JPM/GS/Morgan Stanley back office before?

For GS BO roles, is the pay for fresh grad really 6k? I was asked to put salary expectation after passing all my interviews and I quoted 5k but I was told that it was too high so I would like to ask if I am being lied to by the HR and the actual is 5.5k-6k.

That’s weird though considering how MCF is quoting at least 6k as the lower bound for Analyst roles

lol definitely trying to lowball you bro. i have dealt with GS hr before, they are a tough nut to crack. lowball you + make you accept on the spot without giving you time to think. but if you're a strong candidate and can hold out the offer, they will come back with 20-30% more than the initial offer.

I think it could be likely due to the role being offered is a contract role?

I'm not sure how much I can share since I haven't gotten the official offer yet (HR say usually take 1-1.5months for BG check but they will expedite for me as they want me to start in Jan so latest end Dec will have offer) but it is in Global Market Operations

Nope, it is a full-time role. I wonder if it could be the role as I saw the Associate level for the same position paying between 6k-12k on MCF

Ikr, they called me while I was out on a date and was bombarding me with so much information. I couldn't come up with a structured argument for the pay cos I was so unprepared plus I couldn't keep my partner waiting forever at the restaurant LOL

Yup, but I just saw they updated to 8-16k on MCF already for associate already. Not sure what is the value for Analyst position and whether I should just nego based on Associate is 8-16k range
