covid is on a distinguished road
Default Covid-related job opportunities discussion thread

Is Covid creating more job opportunities for Singaporeans to be employed?

According to current MOH statistics, we are still importing a large majority of Covid cases (including the more infectious strains) from India, in part due to the CECA agreement with India, which at the time of writing is the SECOND HIGHEST infected country in the world. This indirectly leads to more healthcare demand and create more healthcare jobs for locals!

CECA is thus creating more job opportunities for us, by increasing our local Covid numbers and ensuring doctors and nurses WILL NOT be out of jobs!

Further, increasing CECA flights to Singapore will also help stress test our world class healthcare system, by ensuring the Second Covid Wave will not happen from an imported foreign Covid case.

Therefore, importing more CECA EP and WP foreigners to our booming local economy is a good thing for Singapore because any Covid infection they can bring helps create more jobs for Singaporeans.

Does anyone else agree? Up for constructive discussion!

Likely to have second wave of community transmission soon given our importing of covid cases. Not sure if Covid will create more jobs for the rest of Singapore though.
But aren't we subsidising free vaccines for foreigners too?

Don’t politicise the matter. Stop complaining about foreigners. If you can make it, you will make it. If you cant make it, no matter where you go, you will be unhappy and uncompetitive

You should learn more about Economics of Singapore first..

Suggest you upgrade yourself. A truthful advice

Thanks to OP, MOH has woken up today and will start tightening border restrictions from tomorrow, restricting those with more infectious strains from UK and South Africa. I think MOH balls dropped with unlinked community cases and scared they be blamed responsible for a second COVID wave.

But why not bar India flights too with their huge cases? MOH got new CECA citizen in charge of border restrictions?

I tried talking to kids in the early 20s.
They seriously have no idea what is CECA,
they purely, and naively think this is an issue of racial/racism, and they are arguing FOR CECA AGREEMENT unknowingly out of political correctness.

They genuinely do NOT know that the CECA agreement allows for UNLIMITED people from India to come to Singapore to work with NO RESTRICTION, they do not know that MANY SINGAPOREANS ARE DISPLACED NOT BECAUSE OF MERIT, BUT BECAUSE OF VILLAGE MENTALITY

but the truth is most Singaporeans don't even know that the government they voted for is pawning them. Why do we keep voting for a government who act against our best interest for a foreign country?

Typical lazy ceca copying others and passing it off as your own argument. is your ceca degree real or fake one? nowadays even negative covid tests can be faked in your country
