Pls advice on my salary?
Hi,
I am a Java/J2EE programmer with 5+ years of experience and I am new to Singapore. I have been offered a job with a package 48k/annum for a permanent role. I was told that they are offering this package as I dont have singapore experience and it is a permanent role. I don't buy that and I believe this salary is below par or am I wrong here?
In my previous job I was getting 71k/annum in Australia and I don't have any idea about Singapore market. Can anyone please advice me about the current salary trend in Singapore?
Thanks a lot.

counting exchange rate etc, the offer is ridiculous n i dont understnd y u ould want to consider it even.... it is like tking 50 percent pay cut for worse quality of life..
but guess more competition here so they cant offer u what u r earning there

Actually i think both statements are true.
It is true singapore dont have any facebook programmer visionary kind YET.. but well, this is also true of many other countries ...
And definitely, because singapore is a bit better than some countries in Asia, so many programmers are coming here for better life ... but also jumping to other countries when they have clocked enough mileage !
Hence it will not make much sense for non visionary programmer in better countries to come here to work.
