April is the wage adjustment right? this is refering to the annual merit increment (3-5%) type, that is dependent on appraisal.

DDs make 150k only, not "close to 200k" unless you use rounding judiciously.

The civil service salary scale (2011) is as follows:
2011 Civil Service Salary Range
Job grade: MX9 (Superscale)
Job title: Deputy Director, Director
Pay scale: S$10,580 – S$14,550 / S$14,551 – S$16,540
Job grade: MX10
Job title: Assistant Director, Deputy Director
Pay scale: S$6,350 – S$9,050 / S$9,051 – S$10,400
Job grade: MX11
Job title: Manager, Assistant Director
Pay scale: S$4,100 – S$6,160 / S$6,161 – S$7,190
I supposed the Polys being stats boards will pay more? Let's take the top end DD's pay of $14,550 and with 6 months bonus = 19 x $14,550 = $276,450 pa.
Don't play play.

Agree with the observation. A typical poly Principal makes about $500k per annum. There is a reason why they are also called CEO! These Poly CEOs are considered cheap if compared with other SGX listed CEOs.
