student feedback, student performance, special achievements and most importantly whether your boss likes you and whether he's like by his boss.

Can....., why not?
Whatever business is none of their business.
Our civil servants are holding non-exec or some permanent position in listed or MNC, as long there is no conflict of interest.

Can, but you need to declare your business openly. They don't like hidden stuff, due to anti corruption practise. I used to be a director of a pte co. while being a lecturer. Now company fold liao. Pay in poly is good enuf for decent life without stress....haha

But can one own shares in private companies without declaring? Owning shares is different from being a director.
I'm quite sure they don't need you do declare share ownership in _public_ listed companies, but what about in private companies like those "Ah John Pte Ltd"?

Er... I think you meant 1 lot not 1000 lot.
1000 lot is 1,000,000 shares?
Correct me if I am wrong if policies have changed. It doesnt matter how small the amount. As long as you dabble in shares you are to declare that in your annual declaration. Even gifts you get as a teacher (>certain amt, no sure what is the limit now) say during teacher's day also have to be declared.

Small Amt of share no need lah, I trade in share often, nvr declare. Gifts need to surrender, then each year, each dept will do lucky draw to distribute gift. Perishable gift like moon cake, cakes, biscuit no need lah, just share with collegue, AG cannot audit it anyway, hoW they know what u eat rite?
