How much will a QUIET place cost me in rent?

I am offered a job for 10K gross a month and I am a bit worried that I would be spending too much of my salary on rent.

I am European and currently I spend maybe 1/3th of my NET income on living.
I already know I will not be able to do this in Singapore because rents are relatively way higher in SG.

What I would like to hear is an estimation of what will be my renting costs.
I go with my wife and no kids.

But more importantly I find it extremely important to live in a quiet place.
Traffic noise I don't mind, but slamming doors, footsteps or phonecalls of neighbours annoy the hell out of me. To a point where I decided I will never put myself in this situation again. It could be a condition called misophonia, but I don't know.

This does mean I have to pay up to live in either a very soundproof building or live on the top floors.

Any idea whether this is doable in SG?

well by exposing urself as foreigner in this forum is apparently suicide. i've seen many threads by foreigner asking genuine questions were 'attacked' by the xenophobic local lurking in this forum.

anyway, with 10k, i'll probably looking for studio or master room at Condo. minimum would be around 1.5k for rent on monthly basis. no issue with sounds so far , go for condo rather than HDB.

u'll be able to get by easily on 1/3 of ur salary, -- given if you don't smoke, party on weekly basis, eat at restaurant or go cafe for an overpriced cappucino on daily basis.
