How to avoid giving pass salary info?
To be honest my drawn salary is below market rate, my peers of the same batch are drawing much higher.
I don't want the offer I am getting is base on my last drawn, which is unfair |
You can always reject giving your pay slip right? Just put a higher amount lo.

Tell them Josephine Teo said so.

SINGAPORE: There are no rules stating that job seekers must declare their last-drawn salaries, and employers cannot insist they do so, said Minister for Manpower Josephine Teo in Parliament on Thursday (Jun 4). If they insist, politely remind them you reserve the right refer the company to MOM for unfair hiring practices. |

Pardon me for being direct.
The economy is still in a dire state. It is the employer's market now. If you want to chut pattern (doesnt matter who is right or wrong, or what the rules state), the truth is, there is still a long queue of job seekers behind you. Yours to lose. Quote:

To be honest, I got my pay raise after I open my salary to them.. no point keeping quiet. Even better, if you have two job offers come in at the same time, can tell each HR to raise further..

I’ll add in my two cents as I literally just went through what you are going through.
I was adamant that I did not wish to provide my payslips as I did not want my salary to be pegged to my past pay. However, the company made all sorts of excuses as to why they needed my past payslips before they could proceed to give me an offer letter. In the end, you can say that you have the right to not give them your payslips but really, they’ll just drop you and go to someone else. I have spoken to friends who are in recruiting/HR and they’ve told me that some companies won’t even bother arguing with you and will just drop you and move on. Yes, these are shitty unfair practices but until MOM passes a law, we are at the mercy of HR. My advice: ask them to give you a verbal offer before you furnish them with your payslips. If they say they can’t do that, then you really don’t have a choice. The current climate is not in your favorite either. |
