How do you show that you are passionate if your grades don’t show it? Shouldn’t it also show in the grades also if you really were interested and passionate?

Did you mean champagne flavour? 🍾 That should be nice and creamy enough for you.

In all fairness, I think both grades and external certifications play a part in hiring. Anyone who has gone thru a CS/IS syllabus can tell you that there is so much more to learn outside of the school syllabus like cloud etc. I think the time of using simply your grades to get into the door is over. Employers will look beyond simply the qualifications provided but also at the entire package they are getting. But I have to agree based on my group of friends who are graduating that your honors still play a big part in determining your starting pay.
If a second lower/third wants to try pull a fast one to get in and secure the same pay, I suggest joining hackathons organized by the companies as a way to get noticed. But I'm interested to know which employer is openly hiring in spite of the honors.
