Yes. I chose to have a more relaxing time during my 4 years in uni. Did not work hard and did not go for high distinction. Only graduated with distinction and I am happy, for the amount of time I spent studying. As for my chosen profession, it is a choice. I went in with my eyes wide open. Until our authority do more to recognise it via compensation, it will always be a thankless and underpaid profession. I guess the rewards will never be from financial.

Life is tough, understand that your qualifications do not entitle you to any level of salary. So do what you can to create something that companies are willing to pay a lot for.

I say the above apart from your health woes, which are really what's keeping you stranded right now.
Think you are replying to the wrong person. I am not the thread starter. I have no health issue.

If you stay , are you going to ask yourself the same question again in the future? If yes, my advice to you is to switch job.

I think Singapore salary is alway asking about last drawn pay when you are trying to nego for a better pay.

TS, can i know what is your expected salary which you are looking for since you are feeling under paid?

What about local Dentistry? Is it considered on par with local Law/Medicine?

I am not really in need of money as I have an online business on the side which generates monthly income to supplement my full time job. So my motivation to get a higher pay is because of the following reasons: My parents keep comparing me to my younger cousins who are earning much more than me. Also, I feel I am badly underpaid for my qualifications and experience. And if I continue getting this low pay for a few more years then my next job is likely to not pay that well too after seeing my current pay.

Should I apply for other jobs, or accept my low*pay?*

It's not a good time to change job at the moment though, with coronavirus and the bad economy leading to many layoffs. Also, I am getting married soon and might start a family soon.

Thanks very much! I really appreciate any thoughts you could share!

If you think it is too low for you then go ahead and resign. See whether you can upgrade your qualifications for a higher pay. I am also a degree grad and I get half of your pay and I am in the banking. I have narcisstic parents too which keep comparing my pay to older siblings. Don't fall into higher hope where you are not prepared. If I were you I would do masters to polish my CV, knowledge and as well as good pay offers. All the best.

Bro I learnt psychology. Belive me, your problem is not your salary because you can still live well and feel happy with your current job. Your problem is the way your parents compare you with your relative.

Try to talk with your parents. Tell them your thoughts. Ask them to stop comparing you with your relative. Everyone has the different destiny, no one is the same as others. So you don't have to compare yourself with anyone, as long as you still feel happy, you are good.

My advice is you can wait for this COVID passed and then find the new job. Yes, I think with your background, you can find a higher salary job.

IF you still want to find a new job, I recommend this job portal. Cheers and good luck.

Yeah nowadays in this market, most companies only offer 2k to 3k, having a job is already considered a blessing.

I see so many people around are hungry for 2.5k pay everywhere. This is the current world now.
