I need honest advice. Jump to banking or stick in insurance

Recently,

For 2 years in this insurance industry , i am damn burn out. I feel bad for all the friendships that have soured. I am making less than $1000/month. It’s over for me. Basically the problem with me is that i want to have the stability in bank. But it comes with high targets which i can handle the pressure. The problem in insurance is that we are not given leads.

Quitting insurance industry is also another problem. I have to pay back some of the cost and my manager is brainwashing me not to leave and say that i don;t put in enough effort. Like are you serious after 2 years ?? I am just a sick and tired of the company culture.

I need advice from Bankers, ex-insurance agents or people who have made changed career from insurance to banking. I am completely hopeless and depress. I am in a mess.:confused::confused:

Many people quit the insurance business due to poor sales. It's nothing to be ashamed of, in fact you should do it faster, 1k/month is not a sustainable business model for an insurance agent. Your boss is an asshole if he/she is asking you to stay knowing the low amount that you are earning. I'm not sure what costs you need to pay but make sure you check your contract (that you are indeed obligated to pay such costs), most managers try to scare you with fake "costs" that are not your liability.

Honestly, if you feel like **** in the industry, just leave. A bad team does not tend to get better, especially given the threats/brainwashing that the company is trying to perform on you, it implies they value you only as a workhorse.

I feel much happier without working honestly. At least working grab food makes me more money hahah . The industry is set such a way that before you enter they will promise you how rosy the industry is, so much flower and brainwash but when you quit, they see you as failure lol. At least with banking i can have stable pay .

For insurance, you really have to hardsell.
Some people like you have a conscience, so you wont be able to recommend products that your customers dont need.

This is why you earn <1k/mth
You have a conscience.

To make it big, you must realy believe your products is salvation for mankind.
If u cant, you will not able to sell.

Leave this industry early. Will be good for your well-being.

Banking is really generic. Which area are you looking at?

Sales role. I am happy if they give me fixed salary. With the skills I gained in cold calling and most important having leads , i am set to go. I feel like people trust banks more than insurance company.

Then it's easy. Personal banking /mortgage you should be able to stroll into the job.

Definitely definitely go for banking. Whatever reason you have for not being able to sell, <1k per month is less than working most part time jobs. Who cares you failed in this job, selling insurance is for the thick skinned shameless people imo so its also not a bad thing that you cant sell

Your team leader and work environment both sound very toxic, just leave. It seems like you are having a hard time, and the measly $1k/month is just not justified at all. You will fare much better at a banking sales role and you will bring home so much more. All the best for your pivot :)
