If I lose my job, I can cut my expenses down to 6k/mth.

That's a nice income even for a 46yo. In the top 8% level overall. Many people here probably in their 20s and 30s will not come close even when they reach your age.
Can you share your job title and industry you come from?

Where did you get the 8% from?

I'm not OP, but a 20k day job could mean banker or sales. Or a semi-high flyer in civil service (but I doubt so, because he/she has a side business, which is unlikely to be permitted in civil service).

Still feel like I’m not earning enough and there’s no pay increment for everyone in my company this year due to the economic downturn. Else I would have been earning 4.8k now.
Can’t really find much jobs outside either due to the bad outlook. Anyone any tips on growing wealth?
Dont be so greedy. Material wealth is nothing. Life is impermanent and money as well. By the way, you gave your parents too little. No wonder.

46yo is also a vulnerable age, not as bad as 50s but still vulnerable nonetheless.

Tech industry. I'm the most senior tech person in a mid-sized regional company.

My earning power may have already plateaued. Senior bankers, lawyers and doctors make much more than me, and their staying power (especially the latter 2 groups) are definitely stronger.

In tech, the higher you climb, the less technical (less knowledgeable) you become, which is a liability if you do not know how to play the game well (I'm still figuring it out). In law and medicine, the higher you climb, you're perceived to have more experience and more wisdom/knowledge than your younger colleagues.

If I can last a few more years with such high income, I will be very happy.

Salary before CPF - 4k

After CPF - 3.2K

Save (invested since I prefer to make it a bit harder for me to access cash in case I get impulsive) - 2k

Spend 1.2k
