Do different ministries pay differently in the first place? I thought everyone across ministries are on the MX scheme so everyone should be getting about the same pay?

BBs doesn’t discriminate class of honours, base salary for different seniorities is more or less the same.
Correct me if I’m wrong.

Will the Covid situation lead to a lower starting base salary in CS?

No. But definitely with lesser headcount per department.
The stat board I’m working in is gonna roll out a couple dozen slots for “SGUnited Traineeships”. This sounds generous and all but we’re only paying fresh grads a pathetic 1,500/month for the whole year.

yes, they used to give 4 months bonus with 3.8k monthly salary but now they cut to 2 month bonus and the remaining 2 months is spread across monthly, hence 4.4k (before cpf). this is for 2020 batch

To add on, not sure if this is entirely a good thing but no one will ever get fired from the CS due to performance.
The bureaucracy here is soo rigid till every single administrative action will have to go through several layers upwards before execution. That goes without saying that organization moves like a tortoise.
It’s a place to cruise your way till retirement. Of cuz, it can’t beat the glitz and glam of a front office chad working in BB but the job security and work life balance of the CS is unparalleled.
