Why are some engineering courses harder to enter/commanding a higher pay vis-a-vis the rest? Go figure.
Take a look at the employment/entry stats for:
Renaissance Eng
Chem Eng
SWE
Electrical Eng
Mechanical Eng
Civil Eng
etc.

Still doesn't answer the question though.

P.S. OP here
I don't look down on STEM, but to go so far as to say STEM graduates are top tier is grossly inaccurate.
After reading the exchange above, perhaps what you don't understand is the word "elite". A simple google search would suffice.
Hope this helps. xoxo

In every psychometric tests for any MA programmes, STEM grads are often always near the top percentile. Ask any HR goon working with cut-e or SHL.
And lol who is the joker that brought up “Elite Engineering”. We’re not measuring prestige nor popularity of undergrad courses but how futurproof a degree is.
Enough hate with humanities, there are module selections within Yale- NUS and FASS that equips you with a decent enough quant backing that will give these grads a fighting chance.

I think the arguement is not that STEM isn't a good degree/futureproof but rather not all STEM grads are top-tier.
Take for example a guy that has a 2:1 Finance degree doing FO banking vs a 1:1 NUS Science student.
The guy in banking obviously commands a higher salary which will most likely scale exponentially over his career.
Sure, maybe the top percentiles for psychometric tests are dominated by STEM students, but that doesn't equate to the bulk of STEM grads being top-tier. I mean cmon, I have many friends in STEM who cant even get past the psychometric/video interview stages.
Besides, psychometric tests are not an accurate reflection of ability/job competence. It is just a way for companies to cut costs when they sift through thousands of resume.

LUL how else would you determine elite and normal?
Just like how some degrees and careers are better ("elite") than the rest, they are obv determined by $$$ and job prospects la bodoh p.

Using the term 'elite engineering' for courses like comp sci is almost as cringey as saying you're high ses because you have an elite fairprice membership card.
Just stop.
