Exactly my point. Fresh grad has no skills. No experience... So why pay them 4k when your fresh grad in 2017 who getting only 3.3k and have worked with the company for 3 yeass haven't even reach 4k
What d a joke. Fresh grad entitlement.

Think you need to understand that there are tiers to fresh grads, they are not one entity

Wake up your idea.
You think your fisst class honors GPA meant **** at work meh.
The reality is when you join workforce you work with many people of varying skills.
And 95% chances your boss and superior are lpusier than you. Since you top 5% in Singapore mah. Your boss is 95% all lousier than you.
And if you think grade equate to performance bonus. Increment. Wait long long la.
There is a long line of people waiting in line for the promotion.

As a fresh grad in comp sci who is getting paid an undeserving amount compared to my peers from other faculties, this is actually pretty accurate 🤣

Its about the potential to become something great, of course a fresh grad with good grades but lack experience cannot be compared to their direct boss who is probably few years their senior.
But give those freshers a few years, due to the rate of how quickly they can pick up new concepts and contribute to ideas, they will climb the corporate ladder pretty quickly.
Its not easy to be a first class honors in local uni, especially in a competitive landscape like Singapore. Hard work is not enough, you need to have some IQ also and know how to game the system.
People who are successful in one area of their life are usually successful in others. This isn't a surprise between school and work too.

Now. Fresh grad no experience want 4k pay. Boss ofc have to expect a senior level work quality which fresh grad lacks. Can't expect seniors who not even 4k to do fresh grad work who is betting 4k++.
That is why we have this dilemma now due to fresh grad entitlement
So solution is.... Give everything to fresh grad. Overload them until they quit or until they rralized they don't got it.
Bad appraisal. Bad performance review.
Likewise if a senior colleague join at 4k pay. We expect that senior to deliver. So we expect fresh grad to deliver. Twice as much...

you must have really sucked if you were a fresh grad with an offer of 2k.
perhaps the reason why you sounded sour was because you couldn't get a 4k starting pay job back then.
